In Sept 1997 giger acquired the chateau st german as the home of the giger museum. The museum would hold the most extensive collection of artworks from Giger's different creative periods. Doors were scheduled to open on Sept 11, 1997......

"Certain long-term tenants posed unexpected problems. By order of the court, they managed to halt construction twice. A lady of extraordinarily full proportions blocked what was to be the main entrance for two years! So an expensive temporary side entrance had to be built into the tower. The frustration caused by these circumstances, fired Giger's imagination. Within a very short time, thirty drawing dedicated to the Ghost of Chateau St German were created. Among other amusements, the feature the delights of the most wear-and-tear resistance oversize underwear.

When the globular ghost finally gave up its space in 2000, the much-longed for main entrance was binally built..."

Anyone know what's going on here? I've wondered about this story for a while now. Normally I'd think it to be a fiction of giger's imagination, but it says construction was halted twice under order of the court. Now what da hellz going on here people?

It's out of a book - but I'll check the web and see if I can find something. Basically, the sketches in the book depict some serious badonkadonk blocking the entrance to the tower. But I'll see what I can pull up.

The book is entitled "HR Giger" btw. It's a series of small books (5x7) done for various artists. So it's not an "official" giger book per say. I would try to scan it, but I think if I lay it flat on the scanner I will ruin the binding.

I just posted some pix of the phantom for your viewing pleasure - I'm not particularly fond of the art but am curious about the story.
